Muchan is a conference for young Messianic believers to thoughtfully navigate their heritage and faith in today’s challenging culture. We ask, “Are you READY for the Lord to show up in your life? And are you READY to be a catalyst for Him?”
Muchan, which means “ready” in Hebrew, was originally the idea of Lawrence and Louise Hirsch, directors of Celebrate Messiah—Australia, after observing young Israelis on school trips in Poland experiencing and growing by learning about their Jewish history and how to navigate their faith today. They brought Rachel Davis, Jahleel Shelling, and Ryan Karp on board to plan the first Muchan in 2009. Since then, Muchan has been held every two years—with much anticipation! The location for Muchan is chosen based on its significance in Jewish history and culture. At our very first conference in Berlin, we learned about the Holocaust and even traveled to Auschwitz in Poland. We met local Messianic believers and shared a Saturday morning Sabbath service with them. At our second conference, held in Paris, we had a firsthand look at the harsh realities of modern antisemitism in France and throughout Europe. We did not meet too many local believers because, in reality, France does not have many believers, let alone Messianic believers. We blessed and prayed for the few who were working among the closed Jewish community in Paris. At our third conference, in Madrid, we were taken back to the once vibrant Golden Age of Judaism in culture, art, science, commerce, literature, and rabbinic thought. In Prague, we delved into the radical side of Yeshua and learned about the history of Yiddish and Ashkenazi influence in eastern Europe. Finally, at our last conference in Rome, we studied the book of Romans and discussed what it meant to be righteous as we walked the streets Paul himself walked and actually got to see where he was imprisoned! Of course, the amazing food, culture, and architecture made for an outstanding conference!
We hope Muchan attendees leave with a deeper intimacy with the Lord and connection with fellow Messianic believers.
Muchan is designed for young Messianic Jews and Gentiles between the ages of 18 and 35 and is led by Chosen People Global Ministries.
